Description
Huacapu (Minquartia guianensis) bark – 16 oz. (1 lb.) bulk powder.
Preparations
Huacapu is taken in the form of a tincture and traditionally prepared as a decoction or infusion (tea). For the decoction, the suggested dosage is half a cup, 2 times daily.
To prepare a decoction of Huacapu, 1 tsp. of the powdered bark is used for each 8 oz. of water. Using medium-high heat, bring water to a boil in an open ceramic pot and then add the powder. Reduce the heat to medium-low and place the lid on the pot. Allow the mixture to simmer for 20 minutes. Pour the mixture through a fine strainer and allow it to cool for a time before drinking. Refrigerate unused portions in a well sealed container.
